We got to spend our seventh anniversary on board the ferry. Below you will find a picture of our halibut fish and chips dinner that we had, it was quite good. I took a few pictures the night before we landed in Juneau, I believe I took them around 11pm, you can see how bright the sky was then as well as the moon. We arrived in Juneau around 3:45 in the morning and were both very tired. We had originally planned to walk to a bus stop and take the bus to our apartment, but were too tired to do that so we took a cab instead. During the summer months cabs can be seen a lot here in Juneau and I have still seen several all year round. Enjoy!
When we made it to our apartment I showered and got ready for my first job interview, then W and I went downtown and made it in plenty of time for it. It went well and I was ultimately offered the job but I ended up taking a different job instead because I felt better about it, in retrospect maybe I should have taken that first job that I interviewed for, I'm sure that there were good reasons for me to have the job I do.
Those first few days of being in Juneau were filled with job interviews, but I remember being really excited about the chance to live in a completely new place. This was something that W and I had been talking about for years and we had finally made it! But as months went by we both realized how important our family is to us: grandparents, parents, and siblings. We both felt too far removed from them. I'm still afraid that one of our grandmothers will die while we are here and that we won't be able to be there for the funeral. I am glad that we have been able to have this experience. This has been really good for our marriage and really good for each of us individually to refocus and learn what we want for our life. I am looking forward to moving back to our family in only three and a half months. Thank you Juneau, for teaching us where we really want to make our home.
